First day of the stay at home order. It was really difficult for us to decide to keep Brandon home from day program. He likes going. He has friends there. He has people other than me to spend his day with there. Brandon has severe autism. He does not do well with change and we were just starting to get use to the new routine.
I read the order very carefully. It says adult day cares can remain open for those who utilize the service in order to be able to go to work. We do not fall in the category. I do not have a job outside the home. I was excited about the prospect of going back to work when Brandon finished school, but those plans are now on hold.
Brandon and I did lists today. A written list for what we would be doing during the day. For the most part, we stuck to it. I am going to add a walk every day, because I am going a bit stir crazy. I will even walk in the rain at this point, which we are having a lot of.
The puzzle Brandon and I have been working on is 300 pieces and we are struggling with it. When we do puzzles, we generally work on our own little sections. Today, Brandon said “help me” more than once. Him asking for help verbally is rare and I was a bit surprised. But we are determined and we will finish it!
When it was time to watch the Coyote Peterson video, Brandon became frustrated. He was scrolling through really fast so I asked him to slow down a bit. He said “fox video”. I was typing it in the search bar and Brandon said, very loudly, “F. O. X.” I let him know I can spell the word fox.
Late afternoon, Brandon started perseverating about going to Cabelas with Lorie. He still misses her. Tomorrow, we are going to call Lorie, so Brandon can at least hear her voice and tell her where he wants to go.
There was some angry jumping, but only for about 20 minutes. I am considering today a success!
