Week Three

We are now starting week three of the stay at home order. For the most part, Brandon has handled this pretty well. He is now watching The Simpsons and relaxing after his breakfast of pancakes with no syrup. Just butter for my Brandon.

He does miss Lorie. We talk about Lorie and Cabelas A LOT. I do think Brandon understands why we can’t go out, but he, like most of us, is beginning to feel a bit stir crazy. We will be face timing with Miss Lorie later today. I miss her, too!

We still take walks, but the park behind our house is now closed to the public. So, we are walking through the neighborhood looking for hearts in windows. When we see others walking, we still smile and wave, but the need for distance is clear. Folks move to the other side of the street and the smiles are more sad.

Yesterday, Brandon and I took a drive into the city (St. Louis) just to see some different sights. I played 80s music on the radio and we danced along. We did not stop anywhere and we didn’t get out of the car until we got home. But it was so nice to just be out of the house for a bit.

So…to all my fellow autism mommies out there…hang in there. We will get through this! And our sweet kiddos will, too.

One day we drove ten minutes to my daughter’s house to watch my granddaughter play on the driveway. Just getting out of the subdivision was weird. It helped me realize that the world is still standing. That sounds strange I know. Maybe we should drive into St. Louis city some day.

It was nice to get out of the house for a bit. Traffic was pretty light in the city…thank heavens. I’m glad to see your granddaughter for a bit. Strange times we are in.
